I've been involved with this project in almost every way I've been able to since first seeing Roger Ebert's blog post; at first all I could do was watch the website/blog and hope for a good watchable version to come out eventually.

Since the downloadable versions have been released, I've done a few things:

  • Immediately created torrent downloads of all 3 principal versions (1080p, 720p, 480p) and promoted them on various Torrent sites. In the process, figured out how to use the archive.org server as a backup "seed" for the torrent so it can never die out all the way, as long as the file stays in-place on archive.org.
  • Added the first user-made content to the SitaSites Wiki page, listing the torrents (with the .torrent files hosted on my personal webserver), as a download alternative to the direct http downloads at archive.org.
  • Created a new downloadable version of the movie with the original 1080p video combined with lossless FLAC audio, in a Matroska (.mkv) container. It is available at an alternate page on archive.org.
  • Posted the movie to Google Video.
  • Started my own "unofficial" DVD mastering, with custom menus of my own design, an English subtitle track retimed and reedited by me (based on the original English transcription as posted on this website), as well an easter egg allowing the HD trailer to be viewed, and chapter stops chosen and named by me. Not released yet, pending final tweaks, etc.
  • Split up the 720p video into 10 parts and posted them all to Youtube in full HD quality (as much as Youtube allows, anyway), all grouped into a playlist for easy playback.
  • Ported the subtitle track edited/timed for my DVD version to an SRT file and posted on the subtitles page on the wiki. (This is the version that appears to have been used on the "Official" DVD as well.)
  • Posted a burnable AVCHD image as a download and torrent - AVCHD is a format very similar in quality to blu-ray but which can be burned onto a regular DVD blank.
  • Finalized and posted my own build of Sita on DVD (2009-05-14). Posted torrents and direct downloads via archive.org.
  • Created and posted a torrent version for the Official DVD image (2009-06-18).
  • Worked with site administrators at DailyMotion.com to upload the full movie at their site, which was later featured for a few days on their front page.
